Special Notice

Please note that this webpage is in the process of being rolled out to the public. We apologize for the inconvenience, and relevant sections will be added soon.

Picking Roommates

  • Treat picking a roommate like a job interview
  • Bring a neurotypical ally along who knows you, and ask for their impression.
  • Ask what their policy on drugs, guests, and parties would be.

Red Flags

  • They do not…
    • Have a job to guarantee rent
    • Have clear strategies for doing chores or managing their emotions
    • Cannot describe how they process anger and sadness
  • They speak poorly about others behind their back, or they are a gossip
    • Chances are they would do the same to you

Communicaton

  • Rephrase your texts by using Goblin.tools. Get a concrete explanation demo here.

“What if I can’t read faces?”

  • Go out of your way to surround yourself with friends who can protect you and give their impression of potential roommates before you commit.
  • Be extra sensitive to your gut. If you feel that something is off even though you cannot describe it, someone who cannot read faces probably is picking up on just the tip of a massive problem.

Unhealthy Living Situations

  • We recommend all neurodivergent women, even those who are not on the spectrum, inform themselves on safety strategies here that neurotypical women usually use.
